      Chairman of the Palm Beach County Commission Steven Abrams is proposing his title be changed to Mayor as is done in Broward and Dade Counties.
      Nestler Poletto Sotheby's, which owns the exclusive Sotheby's International Realty franchise in South Palm Beach County and North Broward, is moving its main office to 200 East, an upscale residential condominium and mixed-use project at 200 East Palmetto Park Road.  The luxury brokerage purchased the new 3,100 square foot office space, located on the ground floor of building, from the developer, The Lojeta Group.  Nestler Poletto Sotheby's currently leases 2,800 square feet at One South Ocean Boulevard in Boca Raton, a spot it has occupied for the past five years.

     Boca Raton based Office Depot, with 110 employees in Boca, lost $70 million in the last quarter and announced plans to downsize or relocate 50% of stores worldwide, and may merge with Office Max. They also bailed out on a $10 million sponsorship of a NASCAR race car. 
     Boca Raton based time-share resort business Bluegreen Corporation received a $10/share offer from BFC Financial Corp, former BankAtlantic owners.
     Baja Beach Club which opened Oct. 5 at Palmetto and Powerline Roads, has closed after a month of operations. No word yet on what will open there.
     Former FAU student Donald R. French, 25, was charged with running a $10 million Ponzi scheme that bilked about 50 victims who lost $1.3 million.
     There are 190,000 Palm Beach County, up 14%,  and 1.1 million South Florida residents, one third of Florida, on Food Stamps and 17,000 more in October.

       Boca Raton City Council appointed a five member task force composed of an attorney, an actuary, a certified public accountant, a certified financial analyst and a member of the city's Financial Advisory Board, to study police and firefighter pensions.
      The Boca Raton City Council approved a contract with Palm Beach County with a provision that says the city will not discriminate against people on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
      The Polo Club Shoppes in Boca Raton were sold for $28.5 million by a fund managed by BlackRock Realty Advisors inc. on Oct. 10 to G&I VII Polo Club LLC, managed by DRA Advisors LLC, which also owns the 1900-2000 offices in Boca, the Broward Financial Center in Fort Lauderdale and the Plantation Marketplace in Plantation.
