    The number of foreclosed homes in South Florida not for sale, known as the Shadow Inventory is soaring with 26,000 listed in Palm Beach County alone in the first quarter, up 78% from last year. Lenders are reluctant to release them as they don’t want a hit on the distressed property value, plus they abort rehabbing the home when they put it up for sale.

     Boca Raton's 200 East has unrivaled sales from November through March, with almost $15 Million in sales this season. The recent sales at 200 East in downtown Boca are evidence of a market comeback in the luxury Boca Raton residential real estate market.  The luxury condo project, located in the downtown area reported 14 sales, including new residences and re-sales, in the months of November through March.
     Boca City Council unanimously renewed existing positions, including Susan Haynie remaining Deputy Mayor and Contance Scott staying on as Chair of the Community Redevelopment Agency.
     The Boca Raton Airport Authority is seeking ways to keep controllers from being furloughed in the wake of FAA budget cuts. North Perry Airport in Broward is being funded by the Broward County Commission to avert controller layoffs at that airport.
     1st United Bank of Boca Raton has purchased struggling Enterprise Bank in North Palm Beach, for $6 million and taking over their debt load.
     New stores opening at the Town Center in Boca Raton include The Container Store, Boston Proper, Vince Camuto and Robert Graham stores. Stanton Optical will also open near Town Center this month.
     A new center on North Federal Highway and Fifth Ave. will have a drive-through Starbucks with outdoor seating, a Chase Bank and a mattress store.
     Palm Beach County is expected to have 1,444,000 population in 2015.
     FEMA announced that homeowners insurance policies will increase from hundreds to thousands of dollars in soaring premiums, mandated by Congress to stem the continued massive deficits.

      Cinemark Theatres unveiled the XD screen on the premier level of Cinemark Palace 20, just in time for the upcoming summer blockbusters season.
     The Feds want to lay off five controllers at the Boca Airport tower as of April 7, which has 51,000 takeoffs and landings a year, to save $650,000 in salaries due to the Sequester cuts. Community leaders are fighting the move and may kick in the money to save the jobs.
         Boca Raton based Office Depot has extended talks to sell the company's half of Office Depot de Mexico to its Mexican partner, and the largest shareholder, Starboard Value LP, has nominated six members to the board, challenging CEO Neil Austrian, to turnaround operating performance.
     Several possible Democratic gubernatorial candidates, including former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, are not planning to challenge Gov. Rick Scott in 2014, creating room for former Gov. Charlie Crist. Representatives for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson have also said that he will not challenge Scott in 2014.
     Miami Dolphins CEO Mike Dee tweeted the team's new logo and uniform deigns will be unveiled in 30 days, just before the April 25  3 day NFL Draft.

       Boca Raton developer Gregory Talbott, once among the largest landowners in Palm Beach County, continues to face legal and financial problems, according to a recent involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition filed by three creditors in Talbott's name, who claim Talbott owes them $2.9 million.
