Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe announced he will NOT seek reelection, opening the door for former State Senator Dave Aronberg to run and win the seat! Polls showed he would not defeat Dave Aronberg. As expected, Aronberg announced today at 2 p.m. that he would run for the job.
After the filing for the March 13 Boca Raton municipal election closed two candidates have filed. Retired attorney Frank Chapman, a graduate of Boca Raton High is married with three young sons and lives in Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club, will run against Councilman Anthony Majhess. Bill Trinka, a member of the city's volunteer Boca Raton Downtown Advisory Committee and a retired fire fighter, will run against Councilwoman Constance Scott. Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel and Scott are supporting Chapman, a political newcomer who has filed to run against Councilman Anthony Majhess. Let the games begin!
Former radio and television show host Anthony Cutaia was sentenced Tuesday to 51 months in federal prison for running a Ponzi scheme. U.S. District Court Judge Daniel Hurley in the Southern Florida District in West Palm Beach handed down the maximum allowable sentence under federal guidelines.

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus and his wife Billi have donated $25 million to Boca Raton Regional Hospital for a neuroscience institute that is desperately needed in South Florida. The contribution is the largest ever to the hospital, which expects the center, to open in 2014, will create about 100 new jobs.
A second Tri-Rail stop in Boca Raton may be on the horizon. the Florida Department of Transportation has proposed adding a second Tri-Rail station in Boca Raton, reviving plans that had been dormant for some time. In its short-term transportation plan that still must be approved by the State Legislature, the department sets aside $1.5 million in 2017 for a new Tri-Rail station near Glades Road and Military Trail.
The Boca Raton Resort and Club was featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition by hosting a family of a blind widow with six children from Iowa while their new home was being built.
Boca residents Bob Sheetz and Benjamine Olewine III, each pledged $1 million to rebuild new entrances at Lynn University for the Presidential debate on Oct. 22. Holli Rockwell pledged $3 million to endow a scholarship.
A new gambling ship at the Port of Palm Beach aims to hire 150 employees at wages of $30,000 to $100,000 a year. Port commissioners unanimously approved an agreement with Black Diamond Casino Inc. of Jupiter to sail twice daily. Black Diamond Casino will need workers to take reservations, play music, serve food and deal cards.
