      South Florida foreclosures topped the nation in February. One in 282 homes had some stage of foreclosure filed against it. In Palm Beach County 1156 were filed, up a huge 131% compared to last year and industry insiders predict the trend will continue. Surveys revealed that 60,000 homes in some stage of foreclosure, called the shadow inventory have yet to hit the market, with the general public having little access to them as private investors and hedge funds are snapping up foreclosures and short sales before they even hit the market. Closings indicate 60% are handled by Realtors, when it was once 77%.

      Cinemark Theatres unveiled the XD screen on the premier level of Cinemark Palace 20, just in time for the upcoming summer blockbusters season.
     The Feds want to lay off five controllers at the Boca Airport tower as of April 7, which has 51,000 takeoffs and landings a year, to save $650,000 in salaries due to the Sequester cuts. Community leaders are fighting the move and may kick in the money to save the jobs.
         Boca Raton based Office Depot has extended talks to sell the company's half of Office Depot de Mexico to its Mexican partner, and the largest shareholder, Starboard Value LP, has nominated six members to the board, challenging CEO Neil Austrian, to turnaround operating performance.
     Several possible Democratic gubernatorial candidates, including former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, are not planning to challenge Gov. Rick Scott in 2014, creating room for former Gov. Charlie Crist. Representatives for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson have also said that he will not challenge Scott in 2014.
     Miami Dolphins CEO Mike Dee tweeted the team's new logo and uniform deigns will be unveiled in 30 days, just before the April 25  3 day NFL Draft.

   The Boca Raton Cinemark Palace theatre opened the fourth Cinemark XD auditorium in South Florida featuring a large, wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling screen, an enhanced, custom sound system and plush seating, with the brightest light standards in both the lower level and Premier level seating.
       The Delray Regal Entertainment theatre on Federal and Linton will be closing at the end of their lease next year and a fitness gym may be moving in.
       The Boca Raton Bridge Hotel will undergo closed renovations starting in May and will lay off 96 workers beginning April 30.
       The City of Boca Raton wants to move the Fourth of July Fireworks from the FAU campus to the Spanish River Park but the Park District is objecting.
       Boca Raton developer Gregory Talbott, once among the largest landowners in Palm Beach County, continues to face legal and financial problems, according to a recent involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition filed by three creditors in Talbott's name, who claim Talbott owes them $2.9 million.
      Boca Raton firefighter James Haag was named 2012 Firefighter of the Year By the Boca Raton Fire Rescue Department and Paramedic of the Year by the Palm Beach County EMS Providers Association, for his work and community activities.
