RESTAURANT REVIEW – BALTIMORE IN BOCA

RESTAURANT REVIEW – BALTIMORE IN BOCA

Nestled in a courtyard at 147 SE lst Avenue (419-5100) in Boca, the True Bistro offers food with a Maryland flair. Open 6 days – closed Mondays – from 11:30AM to 2:30PM for lunch, 5PM to 9PM for dinner plus Sundays from 4PM to 8PM.

Carlene, Barry, Simon and Marc sampled starters beginning with feta comply, a cool plate of feta, tomatoes and avocado drizzled with basil olive oil. We had the “Devils on Horseback”, bacon wrapped dates with herbed cream cheese and served with a ginger soy dipping sauce. A delicious repast!
The shrimp salad Old Bay sliders, a fine chunky salad on fresh bun was a winner as were the crab sliders and crab cake with homemade tartar sauce.

We tasted a cream of crab soup and found it somewhat watery with just a pale taste. Off the standard menu this evening was a Crab Imperiale, an excellent rich dish – do try it if it is on your menu.

Other entrees included farmhouse chicken with caramelized shallots, plus sides…vegetarian lasagna topped with a creamy pesto sauce…beef brisket on roll with cheddar, mayo, onion and cherry peppers. Tasty side dishes included a fine potato salad and a rich mac and cheese.

Key lime cheesecake, pumpkin pie and a deep chocolate treat completed our tour.
True happy hour has $5 bar bites Tuesday-Saturday from 5PM to 6:30PM.

Seating 39 inside and 25 on their patio, True offers only beers and wines, daily chef specials and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Established in November of 2013, we suggest that you …Go and Enjoy!
