Note the last day of filing for Medicare has been changed from Dec. 31 to Dec. 7.
Art Johnson is said to be looking at the Broward Superintendents job.
Mary Lou Berger, Snr. Admin. Aide to Commissioner Burt Aaronson jumped into the race for his seat yesterday with Aaronson’s backing. Rick Neuhoff had earlier announced to run for the District 5 seat.
FAU Head Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger announced last week he was retiring from coaching after this upcoming season and will become an Ambassador for FAU. In addition to all the accolades for starting and building the football program and new stadium, he also built and designed the new Tom Oxley Athletic Center, one of the finest if not the finest in the nation. FAU should name the field, if not the stadium after him as a tribute to his leadership.
The Boca Del Mar Improvement Association finally came to their senses and voted to support a proposal to develop 291 homes on the former Mizner Trail Golf Course. Its about time!
Ruth Madoff is living in Boca Raton with her older sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Robert Roman, who own a condo, assessed at $250,000, at the gated, upscale Broken Sound community in Boca.
The Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association (FPAA) has chosen Sheriff Ric L. Bradshaw as this year’s recipient of the Criminal Justice Leadership Award.
Palm Beach County has recently concluded its series of public meetings for residents to submit suggested changes to the county charter. There is still time, however, to send in your comments and suggestions. The last day for submittals is Aug. 26, 2011. County residents can complete an online survey or submit a postage-paid survey card available at all county libraries. Call 233-1880 or visit www.pbclibrary.org/locations to find a library near you. After all the suggested charter changes have been collected, county commissioners will decide which, if any, proposed changes will be placed on the November 2012 ballot. Caldwell Theatre Company, South Florida’s acclaimed regional theater company, has announced that it will host a special launch party and performance at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 19, to kick off a second performance venue in the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center Black Box.
